Our Mission
Mission: The Foundation supports programs committed to the development of mind, body, and spirit for all children through mentorship and education in the arts, creation and expansion of sports activities, and ensuring the availability of testing to those whose creative strengths lie in differences.
ARTS
We strive to ensure that every child has access to the arts. Ideally, this exposure is in the school environment and is just as important as any other topic.
SPORTS
We strive to ensure that every child has access to sports in school. This is traditionally the most economical way to get exposure to sports and strengthen those relationships and learn the value of teamwork.
LEARNING DIFFERENCES
We understand that there are many students that struggle in school for many reasons. We want to ensure that students that have learning differences are offered the tools they need to diagnose the issue and develop constructive ways to enhance their educational experience and ultimately thrive.

Testimonials
Chance to Excel Foundation made it possible for the SMFC Education Foundation to expand our program offerings to provide art instruction to 580 students! During the 5th grade lesson based on Winslow Homer's Crack the Whip, the students use pastels to draw an apple as they eat it. One student proclaimed "I have never had so much fun eating an apple!"
Colleen Sullivan, President, San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation
We are thankful with the Chance to Excel Foundation and the SMFC Education Foundation for providing the opportunity for all students at LEAD Elementary to have Art through the Art in Action program. The students at LEAD look forward to their next lesson and many have made remarkable comments such as this " I love getting Art class at school! I cannot wait for the next class, so that I can improve my skills and become a real Artist one day".
Forth Grade Student
During a lesson where the second graders got to study the prehistoric Lascaux cave paintings and make their own we found one student under her desk. Upon further investigation, she took it upon herself to put her paper under her desk and by lying on her back she was able to create "a real cave painting just like a caveman". We all had a good laugh and let the "cave girl" carry on.
Matt Sullivan Second Grade Teacher LEAD Elementary
"I have enjoyed partnering with Chance to Excel in my quest to enlighten parents and students how to advocate for themselves when it comes to special education.”
Linda Hughes, Special Education Advocate
“Our old jerseys were mostly adult men sizes which means dresses on many middle school students. We purchased the uniforms primarily with basketball in mind but will also use them for boys’ volleyball and possibly 6th and 7th grade football next year.”
Cheryl Remedios, Bowditch Middle School co-Athletic Director
“The uniforms fit a lot better. They look a lot better. Colors are a good idea. Reversible was great. We had to switch often.”
Bowditch Middle School, 8th grade girls basketball player.
